Believe it or not. It is silver. I think the cell phone and the garage lights and the reflection combined to make it look like chrome. But hey took out all the imperfections!

Deffinatly have been learning alot building this motor though!

yeah they do nice work! Its too bad the cast aluminum is like it is because it bubbled in some places... but o well. They charged me $370 for all the work I had done, with the colors that I choose.

My car has been parked for about a month now! Im like you, waiting for warm weather to drop the engine in! lol People around here will be surprised about the cars because you dont see GM's like ours!

The bubbling is caused by the preperation. Cast has little valleys in it that can cause dirt to get trapped no matter how much cleaning/beading is done. I've been looking at having a bunch of parts done (work at a machine shop) and the guys there explained to me how it happens. If you sand the surface smooth, it helps a lot. I'm having some test pcs done soon that are cast and will post results.

$370 seems as a fair price. They usually want around $150-200 to clean the machines to change colors, and the spraying is cheap depending on your volume. They recently did an entire airboat frame in translucent blue - that was cool.

yeah... well silver is a two step process so that costs more, plust the highlighting cost more as well.... say if I did black it would have cost me much less.... but wouldnt have looked as good IMHO.

But the plenum came out almost flawless so Im really happy about it all!

That's seks! Looks like glass beading keeps the surfaced unchanged, unlike carbide or Aluminum oxide like I've used.
