Judging form Luke's 5-speed TGP running 11.5, it felt like 300. Holy damn that thing had some midrange. From 2-5.5k, that thing just ran through gears. Kind of weird that it felt so fast with E/T's as high as they were, maybe becuz his horsepower was only around 230-240.

Just how many people are building turbo 3400s?
There's me, you...add other people, I know at least 1 or 2 more although I can't remember names off the top of my head.

I guess rather than steal the thread, I should maybe start a new post about this...

Well then let me know in advance when you'll be in Tampa. I'm there on a regular basis. I always have my camera, too.

I already built a 3.1/3400 hybrid turbo, does that count?

The computer on the TGP limits the tq and some of the hp. Some TGP owners have run high 13s with just a chip exhaust and intake and dynoed around 200 at the wheels (~240 HP). so correct tuning and an extra 15 hp w/ and extra 2 psi sounds totally feasable. add on other facts that it is rear wheel drive so he probably has a better exhaust manifold and intake manifold setup than the TGP. i think hes right about where is he is supposed to be!

The only problem is that the Camaro uses iron heads, while the FWD's used the aluminum. The iron heads flowed less stock vs stock than the aluminum heads.

What TGP owners have run high 13's with just a chip/intake/exhaust!?!? This I want to know... With a chip/intake/exhaust I was running 14.6 @ 94.5mph, of course with a crappy 2.22 60', but still, and my car is/was a freak, the only known TGP to break into the 14's stock. (it went 14.96 @ 91.79 and dynoed 182.2whp) The car was probably only capable of 14.3-14.4 with that setup with a good launch and good track conditions. So what did these guys do for the extra .4-.5???

But the TGP chip does limit TQ and hp. However, the turbos are so crappy on them that the power wouldn't be much different without the chip limiting it. As a comparison, my STE stock dynoed ~227hp/272ft.lbs at the crank stock with only 6psi, stock boost is supposed to be 7.5psi. (assuming 20% drivetrain loss and as opposed to the 205hp/220ft.lbs they are supposed to make) Assuming the 3.1 actually makes only 140hp, that is a 87hp/92ft.lb gain with a tiny turbo and a small air-air intercooler, with a heavier bottom end, and SLIGHTLY lower compression.

My dads TGP with its only mods being a K&N filter, 160 T-stat, Chip, and Removed Cat pulled 189whp/232wtq. That is 236hp/290tq assuming 20% drivetrain loss.

With a decent turbo and decent fuel management 300 crank horsepower is easily acheivable with a 3.1.

The only dyno info I personally have is for the Wagon. It got 229.1 wheel HP and 261.7 wheel ft lbs at 6 psi. That's with head work, a cam, larger turbo, big intercooler, and 2.5" intake and exhaust piping. The most we hope too see wheel from it at 11 psi is 270 HP and 320 ft lbs.
