lmao... I didn't even look at that. I was more concern about tensioning the belt.
I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to fab up a custom bracket to allow for that tilt tension way..?

Dann @ KillerBV6 sells a billet alt bracket that would work great for that setup. No idea on the price but you could ask him.

I'll set it up on mine and show you what I was refering to on the pulley setup. I'd like to know if it would work myself.

I meant that you go from the crank pulley, around the A/C delete pulley, no pulley where the P/S pump was, around the alternator, down around the tensioner like stock, then to the crank pulley. I think it will miss the water pump without the P/S pump pulley inplace. I'll check it on my motor (since I have the delete pulley and the PS is off).

You could also reloacte the alternator to the A/C location. This lowers your cg, and really cleans up the top of the engine.

I see what you mean Curtis. I've ran mine for years without the a/c or the a/c delete pulley, and the belt has just enough against the w/p that it works.
But without the p/s pulley, I don't know if it'll hit the w/p at all.
I should look at that alternator bracket from KillerBv6. It may be better than what I've currently got. Though it seems to work fine for now.
And Ghostwhite, I'm tilting the whole bracket, not the alternator by itself. So the alt fan is no problem. The alternator hardly pivots at all in the bracket.

I totally undertand how you are doing it. Just pointing out what would happen if the alt. braket was cut like the example..

I think we have all been there.."oh man what a great idea" do it, then...."oh".
                  I certainly have, lol.

                  But, back on topic.

That is a pretty interesting setup you have there. Looks like a lot of work, but I appreciate the custom fabrication involved..keep it up!

Thanks man! I love custom stuff, though not the hard lessons that come with it sometimes.
To be honest, I'm a dumbass! I never even noticed the white marking on the bracket that 1988GTU put on there.

I jsut a ssume the cavaliers are not that hard to frive without P/S. Heaven forbid if I did that to my car with that gajunga engine up front...I'd need a the steering wheel from the titanic and that crank thingy with the bell to steer it ! I stil love the GEN 2. I feel I can get some good power out of it...

You could buy the Cav without P/S. There is a manual steering rack out there. I think it's hard to find, though.

i used to have a manual rack. the racks themselves are easy to find, just the steering couplers are hard to find. i went back to power to city driving lol. anways thats a sweet setup with the water pump!!

I used to have a 4 banger without P/S, and it was no problem. I'm not sure how much heavier the V6 is, so it might be a little harder.
The car isn't my daily driver anymore anyways, so it should be ok.

with the v6, some 225/50/r16 falken tires, smaller then stock steering wheel and driving the car during the week, i have to say the only hard part about the manual rack is you NEED 2 hands on the wheel when you turn a corner and trying to parallel park is fun.

you just need to learn how to drive the car without the power steering, ie thinking ahead and cranking the wheels over while you are still moving. other then that its not so bad.

i can almost crank the wheels over with my crappy 215/60/r14 bfg radial t/a's

the m/t slicks on the grass arent so bad either lol

i've always loved your engine, and definetly appreciate all the custom work into it. can't wait for the finished product!
                              got zap-straps?

                                Thanks!
Yeah, I remember the "strong arm" steering on my first Cav (back when I was 18 and in better shape!)
I've also got a smaller steering wheel in the car now, and was thinking whether I need to go back to the stock wheel.
Unfortunately, the "finished" product is still years away. Even the useable product is likely late 2007. Too many other custom projects that still need to be done, both for the car and the engine.
