  • Well, I got a job last monday, again. Hopefully i can keep it, lay offs for mechanics are real high in cleveland.

Next year I WILL be there. Wifey promised I could go, even without her! She says from reading the post it might be more fun for her not being there. All car guys and no other women would have killed her.

Hope you guys had a hell of a weekend. From the sound of everyone that didn't make it this year, I very much expect them all to make it next year with some bitch'in rides! Including me!

I'll be posting pics of my 3.5 intake swap, stand-by.

A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

and if he did.. it certainly wouldn't have been almost a whole bottle of crown royal.

I had a great time; thanks to everyone who made it happen, GPXSS for the great breakfast, and CNCguy for the awesome dinner that he and his wife cooked up. It was great to meet everyone.

Hopefully next year i'll be able to trailer my Z24 there, that's one nice track.

              • Got home last night about midnight. I'm a bit too tired to start going through the camera footage today. I looked at some of the drag racing footage last night in the car, Jon did a nice job. Ben, your parents are awesome for taking us out to dinner last night! Thank them again for me.

I want to thank everyone again who showed up and made the meet as good as I thought it could be. It was the most fun I"ve had at a meet in years. And I want to give a big thanks out to CNCGuy and his wife for bringing the amazing dinner, all those parts to give away, and the gift cards to boot. That was going above and beyond, and I think anyone interested in these cars needs to check out his merchandise because he makes some incredible pieces.

Now that Ben owns my GP, I probably won't own a 60V6 powered car ever again, but I don't think I'll be going anywhere. I've made too many good friends here and I'm still very interested in the platform. My personal tastes have just moved to bigger and faster. Hopefully I'll be in an LS2 powered GTO for the 2010 meet.

I think I'll start a post for planning the 2010 meet. I have no objection to going back to Beech Bend again, if for no other reason the dragstrip. With the exception of Norwalk, I have not seen a better prepared and maintained track. And $10 for test and tune is unbeliavably good value. Next year may have to include a driving day with some parkways and mountain roads. I don't think I got to see enough of the scenery that Kentucky offers.

Anyway, now I'm rambling now. Thanks again to everyone!
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

...then i'm like i guess thats okay...

as far as planning the next meet very soon: i like it, that way i might be able to forecast my chances of going....

and yes, norwalk: great track, very sticky, very fun when bob motz plays around with his semi...

                  • I got home around 10pm last night since Lorenzo and I hung out with Ben for a couple hours after Josh and Joe took off. I had a blast. Thanks everyone who made it happen (especially Josh and Ben for helping make it possible for me to be there). I agree with Josh, CNCguy went well above and beyond, and yes, his wife makes some awesome food. I got heart burn with as much of it as I ate because it was awesome. To clarify CNCguy's post about the alarm clock fumes... well, he was asleep in the big tent I borrowed and we decided to open the front and back doors and run Chris's (GPXSS) nitro powered remote controlled truck through the tent a few times for Ben's wake up call- and yes, it is on tape I don't know if Josh has planned a place to put pics and vid from the meet, but he does plan on making a dvd of it. I know I got some cool cars (and trucks) going down the strip at the track. The two that sticks out is the Dodge extended cab with the 6" pipe sticking out of the hood that took about 10 seconds to spool his turbo before he fired off a 9.5 second pass, or the Dodge Charger? running what was probably a Hemi and a big shot of N2O that bogged off the line bad enough to make it backfire out the hood, then fired it back up and ran an 8.something pass I think it was. Good times but too bad the Vette plant was shut down until today....

Edit: I am glad that Chris and Jon came as well. It was really good to see them since I haven't seen them in years. Big props to Chris for taking on the role of a chef at the camp, your effort was well appreciated. I can't wait till next time.

                    • I can probably set up an area to post all the pictures and videos.

                      EDIT: http://60degreev6.com/forum/gallery/...mages.php?c=63

Josh, if you have a bunch, I might be able to do them differently. Send me a zip of the pics, and I should be able to place it on the server and import them that way.

                        • I have a lot of pictures, and they're all 10.2 megapixel and the video is in 1080p. I'll start getting them off the camera tonight when I'm done with work.

                            • That AC setup is way nicer than most of that site but go for it:P

I had a blast, and the weather couldn't have been much better for camping or the track. John (forced) brought stickers and shirts (and crown...muhahaha) and Marc (cncguy) brought parts galore. I didn't even know he made an oil pump primer setup but that was pretty trick for the iron head guys (or to prime without manifolds on for aluminum heads). Big thanks to Josh (OldskoolGP) for setting this up and sticking with it. You might own a smaller car someday with some 60V6 powerplant in it but as you found out, these meets have become less 60V6 specific and more of a community thing for past and present owners. Really glad Chris (GPXSS) and Jon (RidgeRunner) came out even though they have been off the forums mostly for a while now.

Now I know who Travis is, which is nice cause I didn't really have a clue while we were there:P He brought the 2nd nissan, making the meet 15% nissan based. We are being invaded! We also had 2 G6s, neither of which saw track time but they at least helped the 60V6 % out for this meet. Josh had the 3rd full time 60V6 vehicle. We also had a convertible Z24 and 2 fieros show up, one of which had the truleo intake on it.

Not sure when/where for next year though bowling green is certainly a great place for a car meet. Perhaps once vids and pics are available, we will get more interest from those closer to the location and convince those within 5 hours to make the trip.

...if it'll make it that far.

Oh, and I figured out what that huge red fuzzy ant-like critter was. It's a type of wasp commonly known as the "Cow killer". Apparently the name comes from how painful its sting is.
