  • Could we, should we have a meet?

I was thinking about this today. I tried to do a meet two years ago up in WI, and there was some initial interest but in the end no one wanted to come. But this year, gas is gonna be cheap, and I think a lot of us could use a weekend away from the troubles and woes we may be having at home in the current economy.

However, I am not going to ask the question, "If I planned a meet, would you come?" The question this year is simpler, "Would you definitely attend a 60degree meet?" If you defnitely would, reply to this post.If you have to think about it, please do not reply. I want to see dedicated interest in a meet this year somewhere, not people who aren't sure. If enough people say yes, then what I would do is plan a meet closest to the proximity of the people who would definitely attend as possible.

One of the biggest complains I hear about meets is they're too far away. Well if you are serious about attending a meet, I will plan it closer to you. That measn it could be in Indiana or Oklahoma, or Georgia , or wherever, depending on where those who would attend live. So if you want to havea 60v6 meet and you would for sure attend, reply to this post. If there is enough interest, I will plan a meet.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

The last week in July I'm heading to Florida for a family vacation. Anyone wanna go there for a weekend? I'm sure I could get away for awhile...

I'd attend if it's within a 3 hr drive from eastern Iowa.

It's not that fun spending alot of time in a loud 60v6 car on the highway... The gas mileage is decent but the headaches are killer.

St Louis seems to be a central location for many people.

Of course, there is always our favorite - Bowling Green, KY.

I would be open to a lot of those because I will drive anywhere. I know Corvettes are made in Bownling Green, and I would love to see how those are built. St. Louis could be good too because there is Gateway Raceway Park. Texas could be a lot of fun with all those open roads. I would not be a big fan of Florida in late July, but if a bunch of people from FL said they would attend, I'd have it there. But I think more imput is needed. How far would you be willing to drive to a meet? Again, I'll go anywhere. But how far would you guys go?

time of the year and distance factor in for me, but as long as gas is cheap, i would put a good 20$ there and 20$ back with no problem. with current price of gas and factoring in my fuel economy..... a 300 mile radius from 49232 and i wouldn't have to think about it.

Bowling Green isn't much outside of that circle. I think our first meet we went to the Corvette museum and plant. Definitely worth it. And, for families, there is the huge waterpark right next to the campground where we normally stay, which also happens to be right next to the dragstrip.

Your going to come up with the same issue ever car club meeting has... Location Location Location...

For Beretta.net we've ended up just having anyone propose a location meet each year and then the users on the board vote for where they would attend... And even after popular vote the distance is a whining factor.

I'm driving 13hrs this year down to Charlotte NC for our national event in June. My car has already done this trip once before going to a wedding... I'm sure it wont mind another ride

That's two for FL, but the problem what that I think most people would have to drive TO FL as opposed to already being in FL. Since Bowling Green is a past meeting location and I know Ben would go there (and it wouldn't be a meet without Ben and beer), I like that. I'll still here other locations, but the way bszopi decsribes it, sounds like a great place. Make a stonrg case for someone place else if you really want to attend.

I was just being wise. Pending on funds, I could fly somewhere, but doubt driving would be an option (wife, four kids, dog). Perhaps she would let me "slip out" for a weekend

I would love to do bowling green for a 3rd time. I missed the corvette deal the first meet cause my lug nut studs decided bowling green was out of the question for them. The track is nice, Mammoth caves is cool (literally 55 degrees year round) and the gas stations sell beer. Camping out is cheap and as Brad said, its a great place for a family vacation as well.
