Unfortunately, the kids and the house have priority over the project car. I figure there is another $20k or so to be invested in this thing before all is said and done.

Looks like fun, and you've got a decent foundation to start with.

Really? 20k? It looks like all you have to do is get fancy with some metal and drop the engine in..... I dont think itll cost you quite that much....maybe half that. Once you get the engine in and everything lined up down the driveline everything else should come together like butter.

Hell what do I know tho......

3500, but what about rods... Unless you are narrowing the crank and using SBC rods? Forged pistons, 2 turbos, trans, drive shaft... Have you decided what ECM? Code 59 with a lot of boost sounds good, but you got the 4L60-e to contend with.. 2nd PCM or trans controller...

Wanna know where the $20k comes from? Well, Ben and I have been talking and we are going to try to push 800+hp. That doesn't really come cheap. The tranny itself, I am looking at spending around $6k on (including controller). Basically, I want to go all out on this, which means there will be A LOT of custom parts for the engine. Luckily, I have a lot of friends willing to help out.

800 HP! That's like double what people are running on the stock 3400's. This sounds like it's going to be one FAST car... I think you might blow the welds on your manifold!!!

You know what, might as well start with a 3900... I mean CNCGuy has swapped it, more displacement, can use LS1 pistons, etc....

Ben and I discussed it, but it would be so much more fun to embarrass people with less displacement.

oh, and here you go... (jawdrop surrounded by colons)

What about the 3500 VVT as a base then rather than LX9? You could still use the LS1 pistons, still 3.5L, (actually more 3.5 than a LX9 is... 214 CI) and bigger bore shorter stroke...

I guess a comparison sheet of what needs to be done to what, and what off shelf parts will work with what should be made to figure out which is best.

you can still do more with less....

the 3.6 camaro motor is almost halfway to your power goal dead stock(on 87 octane no less) and with ~15-16psi, it should be around 600...

i'll be sure to use this whenever some other 100+ HP per piston motors get built here

We'll see what comes up. Oh, and as far as the fastest 6v60, that'll never happen. Matt Hartman (??) already has that tied up with the 1600hp, 6-sec 3.6L.
