So far, I've seen more mods to the car than the engine.

never took it... just ran a lil on the street some. Sure, I'd love to go run me some 15's lol. It'd be a good experience tho... I'd like to pick up some pointers from ya, as i'm sure my car is capable of more than my limited driving skills can deliver.

            edit: 16's-17's lmao

              Tell you what.

I've been part of the MyMonte website for a long time, and we are having a meet Saturday June 24. A bunch of members got rid of their Montes, but we still meet and BS, so don't worry about not fitting in.

The meet is in Shaumburg (sp). It would be great if you could swing by and BS too.

              PM me for more info.

                  4t65e-HD HERE I COME!

damn man, sounds like u are getting ready to go crazy with it(excellent)....i can see another engine in your future just to build on while u drive yours now .

i looked for this thread recently but couldn't find it somehow....oh well.

                  Update is as follows:

                  1. finish engine build: done
                  2. port heads: done
                  3. stage 3 clutch: got it
                  4. stage 3 pressure plate: got it
                  5. aluminum flywheel: got it
                  6. coil overs: installed
                  7. MMS headers: awaiting arrival(supposedly they ship monday, i'll believe it when i see it)
                  8. wideband kit: got it and going to install soon.
                  9. Megasquirt standalone ems: got it and going to install it soon(going to get it setup on the stock engine 1st).
                  10.poly dogbone: installed

so pretty much all i am waiting on are the headers and the swap begins the following weekend.

after this goes down, i am going to take a haitus from the lq1 scene to focus some on my other projects.

although if the opportunity presents itself (never say no to a good opportunity) i will indulge in a cam regrind and another tranny for a lsd install.

I've also got a megasquirt V3 board I'm planning to put on an 3.4DOHC. Let me know when you're about to get started. I'm short just a bit of motivation.

So far I've installed a Clarion VRX755VD headunit, the new headlights, and new alternator. I'm currently working on a new rear manifold for a turbo setup on a 96-97 motor. I have most of the stuff for my OBD2 swap, but I'm seriously debating 4T60e vs 4T65EHD. I'm collecting more parts every week. I'm hoping to have everything sorted out next spring. If I get lucky and have lots of time off, I might just get the engine swap done earlier. I also have some body work I need to get done. For now, the Monte is 95% but the Honda has no interior. It's going to come first. After I finish sound deadening, swap back to the larger a/r turbine housing, and install the 1000cc injectors and injector driver, it should be very close to being done.

will do. i am not doing it all at once mind you. i decided for easy troubleshooting for my 1st install to gradually take it over.

right now it is being setup to just take over fuel by piggybacking off of the ecm for most of it and completely taking over the injectors.

after that, it takes over the iac, the fuel pump, the fans, then get's it's own wideband 02 sensor to get readings off of. (b/c now the wideband is standalone but will eventually be incorporated with the ms2 v3) finally it takes over the ignition and whatever is left.

completely obsoleting the stock ecm. when i do another ms2 v3 for my other car, the install will be all at once.

I would go 65e-HD myself. That is the WHOLE reason I got the 97 harness. I am going to PROBABLY build up the STOCK 65e-HD trans nicely before I switch over. That and get a really nice shift kit.

Where did you get the torque convertor you're using, timg?

It's a stock GM quad 4 torque converter.

I actually have a 4T65E-HD, 96-97 motor, 96 wiring harness and PCM, and 97 wiring harness and PCM. I should be able to do either setup quite easily. For now, I think it might be easiest to make sure the 96-97 motor works and get it setup and then worry about the transmission. (especially since the motor has a lot of blowby and is 100% stock at 163k miles, but the transmission has a high performance rebuild at 30k miles) If my current 4T60E ever does blow up, hopefully I can have a fully built 4T65E-HD waiting in the wings ready to go in.

On other DOHC mod notes: I finished applying Quiet coat in the interior of the S2000 and am ready to move onto the foam. I did some data logging and the smaller 0.63 a/r turbine housing yields minor benefits in spool, but causes a significant decrease in flow in VTEC (shown by really rich A/F ratios with no change in the fuel maps). I also saw knock around 4500 rpm- with the 0.82 I had no knock anywhere and the fuel was perfect. The 250 rpm faster spool is not worth the tradeoff and I will be switching back to the larger turbine housing as soon as I finish sound deadening.
For the Monte, I cleaned up some of the stereo wiring and took it for a few spirited drives. I now have my old 10 gig iPod wired up to the headunit for direct access to all of my music. I also retuned the gain on the amps and the crossover levels. I need to redo them again due to alternator noise. During the spirited drives, I had big issues with WOT at high boost. I think the plugs weren't firing (possibly due to an overly rich A/F ratio combined with high boost) and fuel was igniting in the exhaust. There were loud bangs and a noticable loss in power. I turned down the adjustment on the wastegate and on the boost controller and I'm now set. It seems that the FTC1 may be maxed out at 10 psi (it was 10 psi with the adjustments and well over 10 before them). I maxed out the FMU around 7 psi. I would say it was knock, but if I had knock that loud I would have holes in every piston. Off the chart rich readings on the WBO2 + lots of extra boost can easily overcome the ignition system.
