  • Dohc mods for 2k6

it is that time again. what are some of you dohc-er's are planning on? although i know what most of you are up to already

    1. finish engine build: en quene
    2. port heads: en quene
    3. stage 3 clutch: got it
    4. stage 3 pressure plate
    5. aluminum flywheel
    6. poly engine mounts: starting on but nothing too conclusive yet.
    7. coil overs

those are my mandatory things for this year.

things id like to see are:

    1.headers(milzy motorsports)
2.lsd if it gets done this year
    3. finally get that turbo piping ready for sale.(no plans on turbo for myself btw)
    4. find some aluminum cam gears and some1 willing to guarentee they will work correctly.
    5. also if i run into some cash a cam regrind....duh.

although this looks like a nice plan. things hardly ever go as planned. if i get a deal on something, i usually will automatically bump it up to the top of the list and something will then get bumped off for next year.

Probably by the end of the half (end of June) I'll probably have these:

    1. Milzy Motorsports Ported Upper and Lower intakes (lower being done right now)
    2. Timing modification (right now)
    3. Northstar throttle body with custom intake arm (plans being made)
    4. 3000 stall torque convertor (buy in process)
    5. Custom electric water pump (still in the works)

Hopefully My transmission won't start acting up after all that. Right now I'm amazed it's still kicking ass. Maybe July on then, the following will be on the list.

    1. Cam regrind
    2. 4T60E-HD rebuild with a limited slip
    3. Possible Centrifugal Supercharger incorperation

Rest assured I'm always down for making this engine really stand out.

Here is a thought...Wireless Tuning! Hmmm........
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

        1. Buy house
        2. Finish moving.

Once that is done, then I think I will tackle my Quad4 and turbo it.

But for the 3.4 DOHC... I have a lot I havn't done, but plan too sometime this year, into the next 2 years. I'm slowly collecting parts in the meantime. But with the future purchase of a house, comes a lack of time, and cash.
But the to do list is still there.

        1. Purchase 3500 crank and modify for 7X reluctor
        2. Purchase 4.3 rods, and modify for 3500 crank
        3. Line bore the block for the 3100 mains
        4. Order custom pistons/rings
        5. Notch block as needed, modify block for cast pan.
        6. Finish Supercharger manifold
        7. Make intake pluming
        8. Make custom headers
        9. Make custom exhaust
        10. Wiring
        11. Modify car to accept 3.4 DOHC
        12. Purchase Clutch and transmission (6 speed G6)
        13. Mount and configure transmission and engine to cradle
        14. Tune 3.4 DOHC with N/A manifold
        15. Install blower manifold and further tune.

Sounds like a lot, but there is so much more to it. The more I think about it, the more it hurts. Especially when I plop down my life savings for a home with a garage to work on the engine inside of. For now, I just have an impressive collection of parts.

i to plan on using a fiero body eventually, but i would like to get a wbody down to the 14 second bracket(if not low 14 second bracket) be4 i go to a fiero and have a truly sick lq1 fiero.

unfortunately, it will not happen this year as i am only devoting 1/2 a year to the lq1 this year b/c i am neglecting my fbody too much.

ok peeps 1/4 of the year is gone...updates????? or new peeps????

                my update goes as follows

                1. finish engine build: shortblock finished
                2. port heads: en quene
                3. stage 3 clutch: got it
                4. stage 3 pressure plate: waiting for it to show
                5. aluminum flywheel: got it
                6. poly engine mounts: dead
                7. coil overs: en quene

things id like to see are:

                1.headers(milzy motorsports)
2.lsd if it gets done this year
                3. finally get that turbo piping ready for sale.(no plans on turbo for myself btw)
                4. find some aluminum cam gears and some1 willing to guarentee they will work correctly.
                5. also if i run into some cash a cam regrind....duh.

ok, i have an empty spot on my main list now. of these things listed what would u guys think i should shoot for?

or if u have an alternate suggestion, i'd be happy to hear it.

Learn to weld and buy a TIG welder. Buy a metal cutting bandsaw. Move to a house with a real garage floor and 220V outlets. Swap in the 97 Z34 engine and wiring harness I have. Swap in the 97 4T65E-HD I have. Swap in the steering rack from a TGP. Replace all the bushings I can with poly parts. Rebuild my turbo kit from the ground up with 2.5" intercooler piping, 3" downpipe, and custom, tubular manifolds. Probably sell all of the turbo kit I have now (turbo, wg, bov, crossover, downpipe, and intercooler plumbing) and replace it with a GT35R or GT40R and Tial WG and BOV's. Retune for 14 psi with the PowerTuner. Enjoy the power. Note, this may take well over a year to fully complete everything.

my want list is getting smaller and more realistic now and my must do's are nearly completed except for the heads and final engine assembly/installation(slack ass machinist )

so i'll put it to u guys again. on the want list, which one of the 2 would u personally pick and why the 1 over the other?
