17815, there are 3.4's around but they are expensive. I missed getting one for 175 bucks on craigslist but I wasn't thinking about a rebuild when it was up.

Have you tried www.car-part.com ? I did a search in your area, and came up with 1 for $350 and 3 for $450. There was one for $1195, which is ridiculous! There were also plenty of $CALL ones listed, so there may be some even cheaper than $350.

Yeah I checked a few weeks ago and the cheapest one I could find was 650 so I guess those are new since I've looked last. But yeah I saw that one for 1200 and thought the same thing haha

Forget about using any stroke other than the 3.1 and 3.4 use - you'd be tossing money away for not much gain. Spend all that money on the heads instead and you'll get the best results - they (and the manifolds) need some serious work before they flow as well as they can.

i'm not normally one to be this way but you'll be much happier in the end if you at least swap to genIII heads and intakes. i know you want to saty with the stock look, but after a couple years, if you're serious about the car, you'll do it anyway, and wonder why you threw away all that time and money for next to nothing. if you build up even a 3.4L, you could swap in a full 3500, stock, and make the same power.
4 years ago, i almost spent 600 bucks on a set of ported heads for my stock GenII 3.1L in my sunbird, that would have put me in the high 14's. instead, i spend about 1200 and did a 3400 swap that put me right there with less work. i upgraded to my cammed 3500 later and run mid-13's now.

            but that's just my opinion.

if you're bound and determined to stay with your stock motor, just listen to these guys. they know their shit, and won't let you down
