RedBird.... AFPRs, Cam handles and Cam bearing spacers are finished. The valve covers and TC sets require a considerable investment of time and money. Due to the slow down in the economy I had put both items on hold. I recently decided to proceed with the TC sets and ordered material. The material came in today and we plan to start processing 50 sets next week. The valve covers will stay on hold for a while as it seems fewer people have much money to put into their hobbies and the valve covers are higher dollar items that offer no improvement in performance.

Even though our commercial work has been slow, we have been really busy trying to organize the shop for some upcoming projects and equipment. (TIG welder, Plasma cutter, vertical band saw and CMM)

We have some new items for the 60V6 to MG swap guys. Shorty headers, RWD mounts, cross members and billet Sanden AC compressor mounts for RWD engines are finished and a PS mount will soon be finished as well. New fixtures were made for all of these items to insure consistent quality and reduce manufacturing costs. We have several other items that we want to pursue and will be releasing them as they are completed. I will only say that several items will be for people who are wanting to do swaps and/or performance improvements to FWD cars.

So little time and so much to do.

hey it's all cool, just wondered. Understandable about everything having to take the back burner, but glad to hear it's still coming along, nonetheless.

Marc, what CMM are you looking at? I am quite intregued by the Centroid setup, but they aren't cheap.

Our neighbor is wanting to sell us his 4th axis, but it will really eat up too much of our z travel on the Kitamura (might put it on the single tool Lagoon/Bandit)

We are also wanting a TIG. We have several MIG's and a stick, just waiting for the right deal to come along.

We have an old Sheffield Cordax 3000. Bought it several years ago on Ebay but it sat in the corner until recently. Though it isn't the latest and greatest, it has roughly 30" x 20" x 20" travel and works well for reverse engineering auto parts. I would like to upgrade the computer and software on it for quick measuring of 3D surfaces.

Being able to machine multiple faces is nice. We have a HAAS HR-210 rotary and a YUASA 5C rotary that are both interfaced to the EXCEL VMC. They work good but just not the same as a real 4th axis. The HAAS is 6" to center while the YUASA is just under 4". They sure do limit the Z travel.

Ten years ago, we started out with a Lincoln 220 "buzz box". Over time, we managed to pick up a Thermadyne 400 amp MIG, Lincoln 135 portable MIG with gas, Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIG and the Hypertherm plasma cutter. I would like to get a CNC table for the Plasma cutter for doing prototype brackets if we ever have enough space. We have 3000sf and are cramped for working room. Someday, I hope to have 6000sf but I am sure we would fill that up too.

Time, money, space and patience.... this business requires lots.

Tell me about it. We are tight with the Mori and Kitamura and supporting manual stuf in a1200sf, don't feel so bad.

I'm always in search for probing equipment. That Cordax would more than cover the travel on our ancient Kitamura The lathe is our bread and butter being so big. 7" and 9" x travel on the two turrets, and 32" jaws to tailstock.

Hey Phil.... not going to say much until time gets closer. I will say that we want to make more engine performance items, swap components for newer engines and transmissions into earlier FWD cars and mechanical services. I am compiling a wish list of items and services that we would like to offer. Later, the list will be whittled down based on feasibility, economics and a best guess of the market demand. Available time and money will also play a role.

SO IMAGINE THIS,AS MUCH AS I LIKE OUR ENGINE DESIGN AS A 6CYL,IMAGINE IF G.M TOOK THIS DESIGN AND ADDED TWO CYLINDERS? FORD DID IT WITH THIER DURATECH 2.5, G.MS WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER! So do you think this 5.3 swap would be relativaly easy, say I could get my hands on a wrecked monte or impala? Looks tight in thier already for a v6,have thought about a northstar, but hell that is even wider! so many options,so little money!curse the devil! P.S STILL WOULD LIKE A 60 DEGREE V8 MADE FROM A3900.
