    many thanks Robert!

    Gonna go datalog tomorrow.

btw, who knows how to disable VATS? I searched for it and have found 4 things related to "VATS"

VATS mimimum frequency, VATS maximum frequency, VATS X = Enabled (box is NOT checked), 46 VATS (box also not checked)

then it's already disabled... the ECM could care less if it gets the signal from the passkey module...

and shouldn't a 93 bird be PASSKEY II?

            vats, pk1 and pk2 relearn:
pull bcm/pcm fused for 5 minutes, and hold the brake for half a minute, put fuses back in, also pulling battery connectors work too. pressing the brake drains any power sitting in the bcm/pcm. (think i'm full of it? i'll prove its possible)
get in your car, pull the ebrake up so the lights dont come on(so you dont drain the battery) turn the key to the on position, not start, and leave the key on like that for 11 minutes, and turn it off, and do that 2 more times
thats vats relearn, usually if you change your bcm/pcm, thats what you have to do. your car may have run that first time defualt. mostly becuase it didnt detect any change yet in any modules. i've had this happen to myself.

that works for newer systems, but i never needed it when i did the OBD1 conversion... i disabled it though to rule out any kind of issue when first starting.

Max is one of four identical conversions and none have had any problems with VATS.

                This is a 1227727 converted OBD1.5 93 f-body.

:: I could have told you VATS was disabled but I get the feeling you would rather have the attention of failure threads.

Oh, don't think so much of it. It's nice to keep my mind occupied inbetween actually going over and trying to fix my car.

                        Besides, it eliminates this possibility.

We will have some REAL info soon enough, i promise!

My good friend whose house garage i'm storing my firebird in had a heart attack the other day, or something close to it. ( a tear in his aorta? )

Either way, we are all very worried about him as his life is not a sure thing for the moment.

This of course, for obvious reasons will keep me away from his house and my firebird while things settle themselves out.

If you do pray to God, put in a kind word for him, his name is Mario.

                          I know i am.

                          I'll update later.

I've been informed that he's out of surgery and as long as all goes well he will be held at the hospital for a few weeks of observation.
