Yeah I finally got off my butt and decided to do it myself. Unfortunately for me, my ZIF socket is too long. Same # of pins, but it hits the other components in the memcal and wont seat properly. This crap is driving me to .
The other side of the memcal has the small circuit board that is connected by about six fairly long legs, it is carefully pushed over to permit room for the ZIF.
The ZIF lever should point toward the outside edge of the memcal. There will likely be interference with the memcal clip in the PCM on that side. I just trim the top portion of the clip off so that it will clear, a little melting from a soldering iron tip works good for removing the top of the plastic clip.
Yeah apparently I got the caddy of ZIF sockets. I couldnt just push the small circuit board over, I had to lengthen the eight legs and sorta relocate it a little bit.
Where are you guys getting your SMALL ZIF sockets? I got one from futurlec and it took 3 times as long as they said to get here and its massive and wont fit properly.
