I like the hood. It looks really good on there. I also hate you for your garage space (and 4 cases of Royal Purple)....

the oil i got from this contest. http://www.drivepurple.com/ apparently i won it in November but never got the email from them up until a few weeks ago. got the 4 cases along with 4 qts of gear oil for the other car.
i threw my car up on there for the hell of it not ever thinking i would win. i was gonna buy oil too but i was just waiting till springtime. guess this is one time putting things off pays.
the garage started out as a place for me to store my Z26 but that thing was a shit pile so i got rid of it and ended up with the subaru for a daily and then this is what became of the grand am.
i always wanted the SC/T hood and all the factory fiberglass ones i could find needed a shitload of work for $300 and id still need to paint it so there goes another $200. then this groupbuy popped up on these hoods and i figured why not kill two birds with one stone. got the hood for $585 and i dont have to paint it since its carbon fiber.
best part is it weighs 10lbs or under. shipping weight was 12lbs so im figuring a couple pounds for packing stuff and the box.
the scoops are open and the one on the left is directly in front of my air filter and the other scoop should send airflow under the UIM.

well i got the full sweep oil pressure gauge mounted and working just got to put the other screw in on the pillar to screw it to the car.
i had a short sweep oil pressure already in there and came across the full sweep on ebay cheap and brand new so i picked it up. i always wanted a full sweep for a little more detail.
also got the muffler installed and for now it just got the pipe for tips. it was getting late and i was getting annoyed so i just got everything welded up and mounted on hangers and called it a day.
muffler is an Edelbrock SDT crossflow style
it looks like this pic. this is the way i ran it for awhile after i got the SLP catback years ago. i will eventually mount the tips i posted above but for now ill keep this look.
no pics today i didnt bring the camera. i honestly didnt think i would get anything pic worthy today. i got a tripod so the pic will come out better. i may get an in garage exhaust clip next week.
still got to install the wideband. made the cutout last week so i could mount the wideband gauge in one of the vents on the dash. next week ill start running the wires for the wideband.
decided it was time for a change so i removed the PONTIAC i had at the top of the windshield as seen in this pic.

I just noticed the sticker in the back window. My friend with an Eclipse went to have one made at a vinyl store one time and the guy must have not understood him right. He said he wanted it to say "No fat chicks, my car will scrape!". When he went to pick up his new vinyl it said "No fat chicks, my car looks great!". We lol'd on that one for quite a while.

well since it was nice out i decided to take it out for a quick spin so here are some pics and a video. its still a little dirty from when i had to take it out in January to get a sticker.
decided to add some tips a few weeks back. they are just the SLP tips i got with the catback kit a few years back.
also i finally got around to getting started on the 2-tone of my interior.
i took the door panels apart and plastic welded the inserts back in. it looks better in person and really changes the interior in a good way.
finally got around to painting the calipers up too. i gave them the two-tone treatment too. silver calipers with black brackets.
Its amazing how nice a simple silver caliper with a black bracket can look behind the wheel vs a flashy bright color.
haha brakcets were already black and my calipers were orignally silver aluminum color. so in a way its kinda like it was when the car was new. lol silver everything didnt really appeal and in the end it would look kinda plain.
i wasnt going to do them in red. that wouldnt fit in with the general color scheme its got going on now.
its also amazing how doing the inserts in the door panel silver changed the inside, alot better than a sea of black.

ok so im thinking of ways to tame the loudness of the exhaust and i want to go with a SLP loudmouth 2 as an in between. just something between the cat and the muffler.
now i just remembered i have a glass pack from way back when i was doing the whole flowmaster thing. well i never used the glass pack and its 2 1/4 sized and i could easily expand that to fit as needed.
now should i hold off and get the SLP muffler or use the glasspack. i already have the glass pack so it will cost me nothing to use. im also thinking of mounting it with flanges so i can swap it out with a cutout. i already have a cutout on there now but ground clearance could be an issue as i only have about 3" max on flat surface.
keep in mind im keeping the muffler on that is on the car im just adding this in between to quiet it a little.

well since i spent the day last friday buffing the GA i figured it was time for some new pics. plus i dont think i ever posted pics of the tips i added. they are only the SLP tips that came with the catback i got 4yrs ago. not my first choice but they were the only ones i had that went on easy.

got board last week. iirc it was stupid hot and humid the day i made this so it was the only thing that got done but i did fabricate a little battery cover out of some sheet aluminum i had.
pretty sure i am going to redo it and make another one since i made a cut on one of the ears i folded over that did not need to be there.
