Thansk for the response. I also made this thread required to be viewed by all (insert evil laugh), as I want to see how people use the site. Until I have the ability to add navigation back to the forum area, the only way to access the articles is via the home page. I also use the homepage to make site-wide announcements instead of using this area of the forum now.

to be honest ive been using firefox and opera for years and in opera i used the speed dial to navigate the sites i frequent everyday. in firefox i use the fast dial extension to do the same thing.

hmm maybe ill try that from now on. use the home page and just hit whats new. it accomplishes the same thing as new posts right.

Correct. You may actually see more with the "What's New" than just the "New Posts" - new articles for example, whenever they get added. I'm pretty sure that doesn't show up in the "New Posts".

I have a shortcut on my desktop to the site's home page and it's a visual reminder to check what's new here.

I only access the site when it comes up in a spam mail. EVERY FREAKIN' DAY! (Home Page, via shortcut, always have, always will.)

Wow, just looked at my sig pic. Nasty. Car has changed a bit, and I'm too damn lazy to use a camera.

I use to visit more often, but really... I just lost the motivation to invest my time into internet as much as I use to.

Interesting results in the poll so far, especially the accessing the front page versus the forum.

I would make a recommendation to everyone that uses the "New Posts" link - use the "What's New" instead, as it should give you the exact same results post wise, but also show any new articles that get posted. Maybe I'll just take out the link to New Posts, and force people to use the What's New...

ive been using the home page and hitting the what's new button since i posted the other day. the "what's new" shows the same posts as the new posts button.

working fine for me so far. what about taking all the stuff on that line contains "new posts" and all the other stuff and moving it up to the same line as the home and everything else. it would clean that area up and keep everything on the same line.

Right. The difference is (I think), is that if a new article is posted, it will not show up in the "New Posts", but will show up in the "What's New". This should also be the case, if and when, we add blogs to the site. The "New Posts" is strictly for the forum, whereas "What's New" should cover everything. It *may* even cover stuff added to the downloads area.

what about taking all the stuff on that line contains "new posts" and all the other stuff and moving it up to the same line as the home and everything else. it would clean that area up and keep everything on the same line.
The problem with that is, we still have people using screens of 800x600 and 1024x768. Adding more buttons to the main line may then cause the buttons to either wrap or extend the screen (causing scrolling issues) on the lower resolution screens.
