  • Sorry for the Downtime

First off, sorry for being down over 24hrs. It appears we had some DNS issues that I am going to blame on our host. When we switched hosting plans (back in December!!), it caused us to move servers (remember that downtime?). Well, the move also changed out nameservers. Up until now, the old nameserver was still directing people to the site. But for some odd reason, is stopped redirecting sometime yesterday. So I spent most of the morning trying to determine the problem with the host, to no avail. Then I finally got ahold of Ben (owner of the domain name), and he looked at the nameserver assigned to the site. Needless to say, he changed it to the new nameserver, and voila, we are back up. So yeah, I'll have a few choice words to say to the host once I get done posting this message...

Yeah, glad I looked at WOT-Tech DNS vs 60V6. I remember wondering why it was different, but it worked so I didn't think any more on it.

Figured I'd just append this thread instead of starting a new one. So yeah, had some downtime again this morning. It appears that the "chatbox" I was trying out was using too many server resources, so they shut down the account (instead of just the script, which I still don't understand). Anyway, after a long chat session with the support people (they were trying to tell me I had an outstanding $10 payment, yet there was no invoice they could provide for it), they finally figured out it was the script issue (which I had assumed and even mentioned at the very beginning). They finally gave me access back so I could disable the script, so we are back up and running.

One of these days I'll learn to just leave well enough alone... Nah!!

Actually it wasn't a "whos in chat". It was a small live chat box at the top that ran continuously on the forum main page. I thought it was cool. Only downside is I was getting some nasty lag at times, and at one point, it even took a full minute for my response to post to it.
