I've had the opportunity to check out the body, subframe and powertrain layout on the new Cobalt and HHR. The way that these vehicles are laid out reminds me very much of the 2nd generation J body. I'm wondering if anyone has wondered what it would take to perform a 60 degree V6 swap on either one of these vehicles. It looks like there should be enough room on the subframe for the V6, it would be a question of whether or not there is enough room in the engine bay (especially on the HHR). If it could be done, it would be an interesting swap.

An LQ1 in a Cobalt? Hell yeah! But realisticly, and I do hate to say this, the Ecotec has more support from GM and the rest of the aftermarket. Damn four cylinders. How can I help?If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

You're right, the Ecotec has much more support from GM than the V6. There would be some hurdles to overcome in order to to a V6 swap on one of these vehicles. I just wondered if anyone else had given any thought to this subject. I seem to recall that it didn't take very long after the 3rd gen J body came out for people to try a V6 swap. Just wondered if this would be the same.
