If you have a 95 car then 97 s about as far as you can go, IIRC they changed ALOT of things in 98 even among the montes. I dont remember the specifics since its been over a year since I did the swap.
Montes went to the 3400/t65 combo in 2000 however thats also when they aquired a BCM so teres alot of extra work there to get an 00+ PCM to work in a pre-00 car.
Ben, I was thinking along the same lines you were at first. From my research I determined that it might be possible to either re-code a 1997 Monte Z34 PCM for a 3400 engine since it had a t65 stock. Or some how try to shoe horn a 99+ pcm setup into my car however 99+ systems are depenant upon thier BCMs in ALOT of ways that the older computers are not so your basically talking about re-wiring the entire car.
The real question is, is how much power are you talking about, I broke down and stayed wit the t60 and had DynoTech build me a new t60 that can handle 400hp. I dont see why you couldnt get a t60 to take the power you need unless your talking about alot more than 400. I tink you could make a t65 work, the devil will be in the details.
