how to raise my max speed

the other day i maxed my 91 camaro RS V6 3.1L at 100 mph the gauage says 110 mph. Is there a way i can get it to go that fast with out costly mods. or being un drivable for awhile. Thanks in advance

New Chip with the limiter taken out is the only way I know of..... besides unplugging the VSS at the tranny..... but thats the backdoor way around, and I don't think your speedo would work then either

wheres the limiter located at and will it cause teh RPM gauage to bounce from 5000 down to 3000 and back when at max

The limiter is programmed INTO the chip..... you'd have to raise the max allowable MPH, whether it be 110 or 200mph....... and that requires either a way to program the chip yourself or an aftermarket chip

Unplugging your vss won't do anything for your top speed unless you have a manual trans, but even then you wont know how fast your going.

Camaro you say? Get bigger tires in the back! The increased circumference will cover more area.. however larger wheels will weigh more..

i want to go that fast because i plan on racing this season as a rookie and idk how to bypass that to get it to got faster (im testing it on the track not the street, i dont belive in street racing).

what rearend gear came in it? a numerically lower gear will raise your top speed. what type of racing are you doing? if you are drag racing that would be a bad idea, by changing the gear to gain top speed you will loose acceleration, and it will take longer to reach your top speed

not a lot of people like it , its dangerous, people have been killed doing it, watching it, and jsut because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.. i now of a guy that had his arm taken off by a side mirrior when he was standing too cose to the road, and i know a few people that have been shot at after winning a race for significant ammounts of money. also its illegal and i know dozens of people that have been arrested for it........ BUT I STILL LOVE DOING IT

Changing ratios or tires will only allow you to go a few mile faster and in this instance you would sacrafice acceleration and in turn may not even be able to go over your speed you reach now cuz you will run out of torque.

The only REAL way to allow the ECM to keep the fuel flowing at whatever speed you can dream of going, is to reprogram it or buy a new performance chip with the limit removed or increased to another speed..

But beware tires are rated only for a certian speed. There is a safety margin but go too fast and they WILL EXPLODE. Literally. And along with taking out your fenders and body pannels in the process you will likely severly loose control and crash.

Racing in city traffic is just downright stupid.
