im on the quest for a set of bigger injectors for my little 2.9l ironhead. i have a lot done to it (forged 9.5:1 pistons, ported heads, full comp cams valvetrain, headers, ect). now im estimating, and i know it may be bit hopefull, about 200hp once its properly tuned. using a couple calculators on the net, i figure it needs 20-22lb injectors. i know the 5.0l mustang injectos are a common swap, but what other cheap option are there??? what about 3100/3400 injectors. i know they are usualy to large for a stock 3x00 running MPFI computer, but what about a modified motor like mine??? i have someone offering me injectors from an ecotec, does anyone know anything about them??? is there even a chance they will work???

im just wondering what else i can run other than the 5l injectors.

What are you stock injectors? I know the 3.8's have 19lb, and thats pretty close to your 20, maybe wanna try that out.

I know the 3400's are 19lbs. raise the fuel psi. doubt the ecotec injectors would work. however, i do know a stock 87 ish camaro 350 TPI has 22lbs and will work.

'99 N-bodies and earlier with 3400's used 19lb/hr bosch injectors. 2000 and later had 22.5lb/hr delphi injectors. They were the same size and length but used different harness clips. Either one of those should flow enough for 200hp at the crank, especially if you have a way to tune the pulse width. 200whp though they start running out. You'd have to see if those injectors will fit your intake manifold and fuel rail of course. That I don't know.

          I have a set of 22# 93 LT1 Fbody Injectors. ONLY 93 Fbody LT1 injectors are 22#'s

          94+ LT1's are 24#'s

Colin, are you saying there isn't a 22lb injector used in a 350 until 93? cause according to part #'s and documentation, the 350 TPI used 22lb injectors, and the 305 TPI used 19lb.

larger injectors will only help so much if you cant tune the PCM to use them properly

                thanx for the info guys.

i havent realy done anything yet, been busy with other projects. i am going to throw some larger injectors in so i quit throwing lean codes. i currently have 3.1l 16# set at 58psi. i dont yet have means to tune the chip, however i do have gmpcm and and going to be getting a prom burner.

hell, might just work to throw 19's in with that fuel psi. just remember, you don't want the jectors to run much over 80% duty cycle.

No what I'm saying is exactly what I posted in refrence to LT1's. I never said 350's or TPI's did did not ect.
I was stating what the LT1's used. And In 1993 for some reason the Fbody recieved 22# per hour Injectors. 94+ the Fbody got the same as the vette with 24#'s.

I thought TPI injectors were the wrong resistance/peak-hold rating than the 3.1L.
I can't remember. I know LT1's are the right setup for our injectordrivers.
