  • EGR restrictor plate question (3.4 OHC)

i just joined up here and was readin through. saw this post from a week or so ago: http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?...ewtopic&t=5535

talkin about an EGR restrictor plate for his truck. i got a 94 camaro and was wonderin what the deal with this restrictor plate is? anyone got any first hand experience in performance results? wouldnt that throw the A/F ratios all out of wack or is it for a custom burned ECU?

EGR gas does not affect A/F ratio. It is basically inert. If your EGR is working correctly then you will not notice a thing. A valve that is working right will close imediatly when you tip into the throttle. I have had my valve on and off over the years. All that I have noticed with it off is the engine light comes on. I have never seen, herd or felt any benefit. I never check my milage so I can't comment on that. However the theory of operation will tell you milage will go down with EGR removed.

i have my EGR removed from my 93 camaro, i noticed 0 difference in power or MPG

the EGR turns off at WOT on our cars anyway... and im not sure that mine was working properly before i scrapped it .. it was allways throwing codes (its a common problem, so i just ripped the bulb out of the SES light and scan my car regularly to make sure that nothing else is going wrong)
