need help on this one, Ive been reading some threads, and now I am confused on which exhaust to go with. I have a 00 monte ls, and out of Flowmaster, Ravin, Magnaflow, which one would be the best to go with? Is one better for the money? and should I let a midas shop install it, or go somewhere else? I appreciate your help with this, thanks.

Quite honestly I can offer you no insight into which is the best, but I would like you to do something before you change the exhaust.
Get the thing on a dyno to measure torque and horsepower before, and go back after installation to see if it actually affected those numbers.
The exhaust manifolds (that will still be upstream) are rather restrictive and I'd be interested to see if they so restrict the exhaust flow that any improvements downstream would be unhelpful or whether the whole system could contribute to improvements.
Kinda pricey test, but it would be interesting and helpful to others, nonetheless.
As far as shops to install it, it really depends on the individual shop. Better to ask around locally. I've had good luck at one location of a local muffler shop, and crappy luck with another location.
Why not install it yourself? Exhaust work can be really fun! No, not really.

Exhaust
Longevity really just coincides with how you drive your car.
From my understanding lots of short-drive situations will
cause condensation to accumulate in some areas of your
exhaust... as the exhaust doesn't really get hot enough to
really dry it out. Plus, the exhaust gas velocity just won't
"push" all the moisture out, whereas lots of highway driving
will keep the system pretty dry.
I've used both stainless and aluminized exhausts on many
of my old cars, and had really no problems either way, but
I do a lot of highway driving.
Just my two cents! And if I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll hear
about it... LOL

RE: Exhaust
chevypower05, you need to check out www.mymonte.com, you'll find alot of usefull info over there.
And while you're there, look for a member named MilzyZ34. He makes exhausts for the Monte's. Just post in the 3100/3400 section about wanting an exhaust and you'll be directed to him.
He made my exhaust and I can vouch that I noticed very nice gains, especialy up top, I wasn't disappointed.1995 Monte Carlo LS

RE: Exhaust
00 Monte LS? I'm going to guess you have a 3400 in that... I have heard the 3400 in a Grand Am with Magnaflow exhaust and goddamn that thing screamed. It sounded so nice.
Also, my experience. Flowmasters don't like high RPM driving. I know I drive a DOHC and you will probably never hit 7000+RPM but I blew out a plate in a Flowmaster racing. Also I did notice a slight difference when I changed from Flowmasters to Magnaflows. They do flow better. How can't they? Look through a Magnaflow muffler... straight-through. Now try looking through a Flowmaster... can you say rat maze?--Rob
