  • More Power?

    1995 Beretta Z26 3100
My air conditioner is making terrible noise. If i delete the air and put a bypass pulley on will i gain much power? Anyone done the cat and egr delete and got good results? looking for cheap thing to do to get more power outta this. Thanks for and info and suggestions!

Deleting the a/c won't gain anything since it doesn't do anything unless it's on. Deleting the cat will reduce backpressure which will reduce low end torque, but won't really gain anything on a modern car since the cats used today are a honeycomb style. Deleyong the egr won't gain any power, but will keep carbon out of the intake.

You may also see a slight drop in fuel economy.

Agreed. Replace the A/C and enjoy the benefits in the summer and winter. Don't forget that the defrost system relies on the AC unit to remove moisture in the air.

so is it relatively easy to replace compressor? How do you release any pressure and unhook?

You will need to go to a shop to have it evacuated. Do all the work and put the correct amount of oil in or ask the shop to put in a certain amount of oil for you. Then return and have it recharged. Don't forget to replace the dryer/filter and if the pump failed then find out why. If the failure sent shards of aluminum through the system then you need to flush the system and possibly replace more components.
