  • Custom Shaft Mounted Rockers for Aluminum Heads

Anyone interested in custom shaft mounted rocker system for Gen II, III and IV heads? I might get some made if I can get a group buy rate.

    Let me know if interested.

My goal is a solid 8500 RPM capable rocker.

How would this work? The rockers are staggered on the 60° not inline

Well even if the mounting of the rocker arms could be figured out, getting them to fit under stock valve covers wouldn't work. Nor would the pushrods line up with the guides or lower intake properly. Anythings possible, but would the return on your investment be worth it?

yes that is correct. however there are a few companies making shaft mounted rockers for V8s with odd valve arrangements.

You simply have a stand and shaft for each vale.... or in the case of an OEM you forge the shafts at an angle and machine them correctly.

In this case I'd machine a stand for each rocker and mount the stud to it. The real benefit is tying them all together (or machining them from one block with a 5 axis mill)....

The ROV would really be dependent on the RPM you want to run. I 'think' based on LS7 data the stock rockers on the 3500 and 3900 (LZ series) can probably run to almost 8,000 RPM. Surely 7500 isn't a big deal.

Going past 8000 RPM is quite a bit tougher (though I'll hopefully have some hard numbers to justify it in the next few weeks)....

If you're trying to tie them together, why not machine a bar that bolts across the top of the rockers? You'd need longer bolts but that shouldn't be too hard. Similar to a main bearing plate or girdle

Much easier than converting to a different rocker system

The real problem is finding decent rockers with decent fatigue life while still having low rotational inertia.

a custom shaft mount fixes all these problems and allows some customization.

Agreed. This is how Jesel makes their rockers and they prove themselves even when spring pressures reach 1/2 Ton.

If you don't care to take this project on yourself Jesel will build anything you want if your provide a head for them, and money!

Yes Jessel wants nearly $2500 for them. I think a modified stock rocker would do the trick.

Actually that's not as much as I though a custom set of shaft mount rockers would cost.

I may have found another option for rockers. I'm investigating it. I'll post once I have more info.

Thanks for the spelling correction. I typically respond via my phone so my spelling isn't always the greatest.
