k i finally got all my motor together, now ppl r telling me not to use a block off plate, they said the motor wont work as good with one. or bad for it.. wut do u guys think?
I don't know, you might see a small benefit from not recirculating hot exhaust into your intake, but mine was installed due to the fact my passageway was SEVERELY plugged. I'm talking mystery oil and a titanium drill bit couldn't clean it out. So instead of having this ignorant looking EGR walve sticking up, I made a good looking plate to block it off. I mean, if it wasn't gonna do anything anyway, then why have it there? I am going to be running a modified tgp code, so I've just shut off the EGR code anyways.
But if your EGR works fine and no clogs, is there a point to blocking it off? I just hate to change something stock that doesn't do anything for performance. Give me 5 HP and I'd do it.
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

It will not give you any performance. Infact you may loose some milage while crusing because the ECM cannot run as lean of a mixture or advanced the timing timing as much as it could if the EGR was functioning.
So leave it on and enjoy better gas milage and a greener earth of all of us.

Agreed.
And another slap for Aaron, you really are a tool, aren't you?
I thinkyou can go about 70% less hole size with no engine light coming on i just pressed a piece in that made the hole smaller only to stop the black stuff back into my intake don't have to clean it as much, but it does serve a purpose it cools the cumbustion chamber.
