Title says it all, I'm used to working on my v6 camaro, I can stand in that engine bay WITH the engine in it, even with accessories on it....but on the fwd car Idk how much I can get away with without pulling it, wondering if its possible to swap cams on my corsica without pulling the engine, I am assuming I would have to probably pull a front wheel and fender to get at it, just want to know if the engine has to be pulled too, 96 corsica with 3100 in it.

I highly doubt it, and even if you could, it would probably be easier just to pull the motor and do it."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. There are a couple ways to make it easy in car...
Saws-all
Cutting torch
Hole saw
Ok, so that's 3 ways...
I wouldn't have the cajones to do it in the car for fear of really messing up the bearings or worse yet, cam journals. Besides, you are going to want to look at the cam bearings while the cam is out to see what kind of shape they are in, anyways, and good luck getting a good look with the block in the car.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

Ummm i think I read a thread many years ago over on bstuff that you can drop the pass side subframe which will allow the engine to drop low enough to pull the cam out through the wheel well. I never tried and and I might have dreamed the thread up but it might jog someone elses memory that archives that sort of stuff.95 Z26 3400/OBDII/GETRAG

I dropped the subframe once to fix a timing cover leak. Would have rather pulled the engine, as it was a PITA. Couldn't imagine trying to do a cam and do it right.

It's easier to not be scared of pulling the motor. I know the feeling and I've been out my ride for over a year, and I hate having to pull the motor out even for mock up of headers. Sometimes you gotta put on your big boy pants and just get it done

I think I remember a thread too about pulling the cam out through the wheel well... If you have a lift, it's not a big deal to do that. If you don't, it's easier to pull the engine. And all around, just pull the engine .You may or may not know 10 times what i do.

I know one corsica owner who did it in the car 3 times IIRC... He jacked the motor up at a large angle and pulled the cam out just above the fender... I don't think he had to remove his subframe to do that.
