Any information on how prone to "puddling" these 3400/3500 intakes are? I have access to a good deal on a little single jet wet system to play around with until the big boy pants motor is ready. Would fit in nicely to my 3500 TB adapter plate...
What are the symptoms of puddling? I have no idea what they are and I've never had issues with what I've been running. I've been spraying since 03 or 04 too, started on a stock 3400 with the 100 shot, and now its the hybrid motor, but a more potent 100 shot since I'm using the proper 950 PSI bottle pressure.
That's weird... I typed out a nice long explanation and it didn't take. Well... I'm not doing that again so here it is short and sweet!
Since you are injecting the fuel and nitrous from a single source at or near the TB, the mixture does have the ability to "puddle" in the intake. (Think puddles after a rainstorm) Obviously you can see why this would be extremely bad given we are working with a strong oxidizer and any type of backfire (accidental preignition while tuning) out of the intake can spell a lot of damage. Yes there are ways to make sure this doesn't happen, but its also nice to know how the intake your running handles the nitrous and fuel mixture and just how cautious you need to be.
All the more reason for me to build a direct port system.
I have never had this issue FWIW... and I've been spraying on the 3500 upper for a while now. The best thing I like about using that is the TB adapter has the nozzle threads right in it, so its post TB and I didn't have to drill a hole anywhere.
here is the inside of the 3500 intake.
It's not "not smooth" granted the 3400's have tubed runners where this doesnt, but I don't see any pool area's
I was looking at the very same spot. However the more I think about it I doubt I'll ever run more then a 50-75 hp shot before moving to a direct port setup.
