OK, so for the MAF... I got a 1999 3100 Buick Century MAF today. I currently have it stuck on the front of my TB; it's plugged in and the original one is unplugged. Car runs normally and throws no codes with the '99 Century MAF in so I'm hoping I can just stick that on in front of the new TB and have everything work.

Hooked my OBDII up to my car and did some tests... what I did was compare MAF readings for set TPS inputs. At idle (TPS=0) the MAFs give about the same signal. If I hold the throttle at TPS = 5 or 10, though, the new MAF gives a reading that is about 25% lower (in lb/min). Thoughts/suggestions?

I don't know if the guts can be taken out of the stock MAF and put into the new MAF but that would be the easiest solution. I don't know if DHP supports your stock computer. A 97 computer could be used but I am not sure which setup would be the best to convert to if that is what it takes.

Well, those were the lines along which I was initially thinking. 1994-1996 A-body MAF 'guts' can be bolted onto an earlier A-body MAF 'body'--which was separate from the TB. I visited the JY today and looked at the earlier 3300 MAF 'bodies' I had considered before. Turns out they have a very small opening--the 3300 TB that the 3300 MAF body bolts up to has a very small throttle plate. That setup seemed restrictive to me.

Bottom line, yes, I went ahead and grabbed the 1999 W-body MAF today. Conveniently, I'm living with my parents for the summer, and so I have my little sister's 1996 3100 Grand Prix readily accessible. It has the same MAF-body design as the later W-bodies, so it bolts right up to intake hose at either end, but the signal may be more properly calibrated since it's also a 1996 3100. I'll try that tomorrow and if the numbers look good I'll trade the 1999 unit for one out of a 1996 W-body.

1996 Grand Prix MAF had same issue as 1999 Century MAF... beginning to run out of ideas on the MAF.

I really think that the cars with the MAF built into the TB are unique. Pretty sure its been discussed on here before.

Yeah, I'm beginning to see what you mean.

It looks like the only way I could possibly make this work is to saw off the front of my current TB--the part where the MAF is built into--and attach it to the front of the new TB.

My question is, would such a setup likely flow better than just keeping the old TB? If anyone thinks so I'm willing to give it a try.
