  • exhaust pipe

i have a malibu and im looking to go with a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. anyone know of a good place to grab mandrel bent exhaust pipe? and would anyone happen to know what bends i would need?

i think ill end up having it routed a different way than stock if possible. try to keep it as straight as possible. my car is cam'd so im going for a really aggressive tone.

whos doing the work? the best thing to do it trying to map out the exhaust and imagine how many 90* bends you'll need, so i'd guess 4, so buy atleast 3 180* bends and pipe. as far as cutting it and welding it, you'll need a band saw, or good chop saw, and something to clean up the cuts like a belt sander. lay it all out, tack weld it together, and then take it to someone to tig it up, and have it split somewhere with a streched piece of pipe, and band clamp. idealy the tail end right around where it wraps around suspension. re-making the down pipe will be the most benifical part of this.

Where to get this from, there is many places but i believe the easiest would be getting from hooker headers or magnaflow, or summitracing.

For a good tone i personally reccomend getting the muffler or resinator put as far up stream as possible with as much pipe on the exit side as possible.

yeah i have the aero turbine at2525 i believe it is. so because of its nice design i should be able to tuck it pretty far up stream. it sounds decent but currently drones like crazy around 2k rpms. going for a cam'd v8 kinda sound haha. im thinking about putting an electronic cutout somewhere in the system too for day i dont feel loud enough.

but thanks for the tips man. this is one of those things i feel should be taken slow because it needs to be done right or it will leak.
