quick head question

for my 2002 Malibu 3.1L
we have some heads off a 3.4 that were gonna be thrown away at school and I was thinking of taking them home to port and put on my 3.1 if they were any good. how do I know if they're worth taking home? the lower intake from this engine didn't have the date stamp on it so it probably wasn't worth taking, but it was the large port intake style.

2002 3100 already has large port heads on it, so if your 3.4 heads are aluminum 3400 heads, they should bolt on, but without computer tuning I doubt you would see many benefits

yea I know my heads are already the large port, I was just wondering if the 3.4 heads would be large port too. I'd hate to do like a port and polish and find out they were smaller valves or something. sorry if that was unclear, i typed it right before my next class started so i was in a hurry. so yea if they're the same kind of heads then I might gain a little, but for free that wouldn't be bad. I'm already home and i took the heads and intake with me, so if nothing else it's good port/polish practice.

Ya, your 3100 heads are pretty much the same, if not the same casting as the 3400 heads.

Id say they are good port and poliush practice, and if you do it well, you have yourself a "free" set of ported heads

Just remember that "free" isnt truly free as you have to buy gaskets and coolant at minimum

all 3400s and the LG8 3100s are large port, pick them up, learn to port.

it's a good thing i picked that stuff up cause shortly after i put those parts in my car one of the teachers asked me to move my car so they could empty the scrap dumpster. nice timing on my part.

no actually I go to kishwaukee college up by dekalb. i had the oppertunity to go to whiteside in high school but for one reason or another i decided against it.
