3400/3500 hybrid build.

Ok i've had the 3400 in my beretta going on three years now.It's OBD2 with a cai custom headers and a 2.5 inch exhaust with high flow megaflow cat with a cutout.The clutch is a spec 2+ and in a few weeks im installing a rebuilt trans with 70xxx and Ep LSD.Ok my goal with the car is 220whp N/A or better.I already have 3500 heads and intakes that i was going to have ben port.I was thinking either a street/strip or strip cam shaft.The car is a daily summer car with about 4 to 6 visits a year to the strip.I was going to get the engine balanced and use a double roller chain.I'll be getting a tax return in the next few weeks and want to start doing this build.Im sure bob will have something funny to say here.I would like to stay around 2,000 grand for the build.Thanks

Street strip cam, supporting parts like timing chain, springs, port work, and proper machine work, sbc cam bearings and you'll hit your goal. I don't know what all the fuss your causing is about with such a small goal.

Figured that was coming thanks for the input bob.And i said at least 220 or better with it being reliable.

From my understanding you will be fine, you will need atleast the 99-pre gm timing chain and sbc cam bearings for your reliability issue. And you will need a tune and larger injectors. As you rear more and more articles on This forum you will see all the weak stock points on these motors and there generations. for your whp gain, I've listed your only concerns. With those parts and machine work your under your budget. Anything more is Higher cr, bigger cam, and at that point upgrading to arp head and rod bolts and studs is a great idea. Still, that's covering your reliability concerns.

Yeah i figured i would be around 80ish percent duty cycle on the 22.5 pound injectors.I was going to use 28# ones i know someone close to help tune the car.He already helped me out with my stock tune.I was going to order the sbc wide telfon cam bearing from the store.
