broke a rod?!

    yea i know lol live been doin research on it... ive never really been into dsm's but im gunna try somthing different now and theres so much more parts and info on those engines and u can get so much power outta them so well c what i can get goin lol. the engine im dropping in im completely rebuilding before hand and putting eagle h beam rods and forged pistons in prolly gunna try and get some 272 cams im just gunna build it once lol. shld be pretty nasty. but all my 60degree parts are up for sale i got some good deals lol

    1996 Beretta
    3100 SFI TURBO
    T28 60 Trim Turbo at 9psi, Stage 1 turbo cam mms, lifter upgrade springs mms, P&P heads, ls6 Valve Springs, Ported exhaust manifolds, Hyperuetectic pistons SP, 3.29 trani, MSD 8.5 wires, open exhaust, Pulstar plugs, 3400 intake manifolds, ported TB, 36 lb/hr injectors, RCI Fuel cell, Walbro 255 pump, A/C Bypass, and much more.
    13.1 @ 103 mph best in the 1/4 mile

      While reading through this thread I came to the conclusion before it was found to be true that it was probably a broken piston, the rods are forged and known for not breaking easily if kept below the redline rating of 7k....I would say beyond a shadow of a doubt that detonation did that, but man when I saw that first pic of all the chunks of piston in the oil pan, well I would quote myself but it might offend someone :P
      But yeah, I would say detonation from bad tune, or it went lean......

        How often do you see a Beretta do a 12.6? I like to be different.

                Well, from the olden days of 327's and two 4's broken rods were mostly from siezed wrist (piston) pins breaking pistons and then breaking rods. Unless you apply a load to a rod that is not in it's normal direction, it it nearly impossiable to break one. Larry
