Which head gasket>>3100/3400?

On a 97 3100 block using 2000+ 3400 heads, which head gasket should be used.
3100 or 3400 head gaskets....Regards.....Tom

3100. You want to be close to the cyl. bore size. If you are really concerned about it, get a 00+ 3100 HG, since the 00+ 3100s and 3400 heads are the same. With that said, it's probably the same gasket (between the earlier 3100 and 00+ 3100).

The 3100 head gasket has a 3.62 bore. The 3400 head gasket has a 3.75 bore. You choose based on the block, not the heads. The heads have the same size combustion chambers between 3100 and 3400 engines.
