  • Intake/Throttle Body questions

I'm thinking about swapping the intake manifold and throttle body off of my 2000 3.1 to those from a 3.4. Has anybody done this that can tell me what I can expect as far as performance and economy?

    Is it worth it?

The throttlebody is the only worthwhile upgrade. There's no difference between the large-port 3100's and 3400 intakes besides the printing on top.

I can tell you i swapped the heads, intakes, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and throttle body assembly, egr valve, and all the sensors and had my ECM modified to these new upgrades from a 2000+ 3400 engine and put these parts on my 1997 3100 engine. I went from 26 MPG to 31-32 MPG with more torque, better throttle response with passing-gear acceleration improvments. Azrael is correct. Your 2000 3100 has the same intake port volumn as a 3400 intake but a throttle body upgrade will help your performance some in my opinion. For some real performance i would install one of the large modified throttle bodys this site sells at their store. Good luck and ask questions. Now i have to go post a problem concerning my engine since the upgrade. Need advise.
