    3.4 "V" Groove Underdrive Pullies

    I have searched the forum with not a lot of success. I have a 3.4 crate engine that uses "V" groove belts standard. At this point I don't have any pullies. I either need to find stock pullies at a salvage yard or get some new one if I can determine the right part numbers.

    Can anyone recomend a source for new light weight underdrive pullies? I prefer to stay with the "V" groove rather then changing over to serpintine due to having to get another timing cover and I think oil pan? Seems serpintine underdrives are much easier to find then "V" groove.

    Also, are claims for increased horsepower over stated? Sounds to good to be true. What have your experiences been? Thanks!

    I had a set of serpt ones on my blazer and wasn't overly impressed. I wound up keeping the crank pulley and putting a overdrive on the alt.

      Check to see if small block pulleys will work.

        I know on the serpt set up the crank pulley is a 4 bolt design and small blocks use a 3 bolt. You might be able to drill the holes and make it work tho.

          Anyone have a Crankshaft Pulley and Waterpump Pulley that are "V" groove from a 1985 Chevy S10 2.8 V6 they would like to sell? They are not easy to find. I've checked with at least a dozen salvage yards and most don't keep any cars or trucks older then 10 years. There are no aftermarket standard size or underdrive pulleys i have found with a lot of web searching. These pulleys will be used on a 3.4 crate engine in a Locost. I would rather not use a serpintine system because of having to change the timing cover and possibly other parts and there may also be some clearance issues.

            there's two 85s at the pull a part in Nashville. Don't know it they're the I4 or v6. I'll take a look next time I'm out there. Will the water pump run in the correct direction with the v-belt conversion?

              The new water pump I have will run in the right direction and was made for the "V" groove belts and not the serpentine system. If you could provide a name of the salvage yard and telephone number it would be appreciated. I will give them a call and see if they have the V6 version of the S10 and if they will remove and ship..
