I remember reinstalling the heads on the 91 when Ben was up one day. We had cranked the engine over without the wires on to get oil pressure and it looked like there were 3 mini Tesla coils down there. IIRC the arcs sometimes jumped to the A/C lines that were almost 2" away. I would agree, stock is more than enough for a .060 gap.

The aftermarket coils have a high failure rate too. That fact was re-enforced to me two weeks ago because I cheaped out and bought a set of the summit brand which were actually Accel coils made with red plastic. One coil failed after 5 months and I replaced it with an ACDelco coil that the car came with out of the factory that had 16 years and 190,000 kms on it.
Stock is plenty, but I have the MSD blaster coils, and they've held up great after close to 28K. I have 8.5mm MSD wires too.
