  • Lifters on new cam?

So I ordered a new cam during the Black Friday fiasco and while I'm waiting patiently for the cam gods to perform their holiday magic, I'm wondering just how badly I want to put 15,000 mile lifters on the damn thing, or should I spring for new ones?

My "Old School" side says definately, but if I don't need to spend the $$$ I'll just buy more beer.

Beer or Lifters – that is the question:

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

Or to take arms against a sea of troubles

And, by opposing, end them. To die, to sleep⎯

No more – and by a sleep to say we end

The heartache and the thousand natural shocks

That flesh is heir to – ‘tis a consummation

Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep⎯
To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub,

For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,

Must give us pause. There's the respect

That makes calamity of so long life.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
Th’ oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns

That patient merit of th’ unworthy takes,

When he himself might his quietus make

With a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear,

To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,

The undiscovered country from whose bourn

No traveler returns, puzzles the will

And makes us rather bear those ills we have

Than fly to others that we know not of?

Thus conscience does make cowards〈of us all,〉
And thus the native hue of resolution

Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,

And enterprises of great pitch and moment

With this regard their currents turn awry,

And lose the name of action.⎯Nymph, in thy orisons
    Be all my sins remembered.

Drink a Crap load of Beer, save the empties and return for lifters, best of both worlds lol,

Drink enough beer and you may be able to spring for LT1 lifters as well to upgrade the new ones

Since they are roller lifters, there really isn't a definite need to replace them. I would probably take them out and inspect them, though, and replace any that showed any signs of wear and tear.

Agreed, just inspect them and replace only if necessary. Cam is here, waiting on pushrods (and with the holidays, who knows).

I agree, roller lifters are not like flat tappets in the sense they need to stay with the cam lobe they were on.

                My vote is beer.

I only suggest doing the LS6 spring internals... the rest of it is probably 100% fine.

I wish I did the lifter upgrade when I built my motor. I have atleast 2 lifters that are bad and making alot of noise.
