  • ¿3500 motor mounts for a fiero?

i am trying to clean up the mess merlot made with putting this engine in. he cut a LOT of corners to get this going.

the backside of the motor, i have a poly dogbone mount. but its only a braket on one side. the other side is a bolt head against the poly. this doesnt sit well with me. pics will soon follow. after work.

the front of the motor, there was some 20ga or so steel flappit sticking up with a hole cut in it to fit a bolt through to the oil pan. the bolt hole is right under the compresser. it has a bolt broken off in it. its forever stuck in there after i tried welding a bolt to it so i could unthread it. but that was the motor mount spot for that side of the motor. that also doesnt sit well with me since its bolting into the oil pan. i cant think of anywhere else to make a motor mount on that side of the motor since the ac compressor, starter, oil filter and OPS are all on that side of the block.

ill get additional pics up when i am not at work.

how do some of you other 3500 swappers have your mounts done? fieros mostly, but anyone can show off to gimmie ideas.

ENGINE HAS INTERNAL DAMAGE. THIS MOTOR WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF THE FIERO AND REPAIRED IN TIME. UNTIL THEN, A L67 WILL RESIDE IN ITS PLACE

yea, merlot half assed a lot of work on that car. he was in a mad rush for things. if he would have kept this car, he would have learned what needs to be fixed the hard way.

I haven't looked at your pics yet. From my understanding, you are not using the fiero front engine mount. Why not? The 3500 bolts in with the stock fiero mounts. You just have to modify the bracket that bolts to the block to clear the oil pan.
Then you just make a custom torque strut. I don't understand why jon would mount the engine using the oil pan.

BTW, you brother helped me with my harness when he was in pensacola. He's a good guy and I still owe him a beer.

          I'm 87_special on pff. I now have a 3500 in my 87SE.
