  • 3500 coils? better than previous?

I was curious if the coilpacks that come on the 3500 were better in any way than the previous design used on the 3100/3400. As in, more spark energy, duability?

    Thanks

3500 coils are all one unit with the ICM built in IIRC.

yes they are, and it is looking for the 58x crank trigger so I don't think its worth messing with.

the 3500 ICM interfaces with the ECM and the 58x trigger, not compatible with anything other than the stock setup.

The only thing it's good for it to steal the mounting bracket so you can attach the older style setup to the 3500 with 4 bolts instead of 2.

Bingo! looks like thats the selling point, unless I can figure out the 58x events to setup for the Haltech, looks like I wont need the 3500 coils anyways, that'll work. just save money too.

              Thanks much guys,

Haven't tried it but I don't see how that would work with a computer looking for a 7x sensor.

i have the 7x sensor and 24x sensor.
my setup uses the 24x 3400 balancer, and the external 7x trigger for the ecu, but the block senser for the 54x is still there, was just going to leave it unpluged...
does anyone have the wiring diagram / pinout for the 3500 ICM?

                      7x sensor won't read a 58x wheel.

huh? yea i know.... the 3500 has the 58x sensor stock on the side of the block, with the wheel on the crank, i left that there, just unplugged the wires....

i swapped over to the 3400 balancer and used the front cover sensor, and i added the 7x trigger and wheel from WOT.

You need to use the stock 3100/3400 coil pack and module then.

why cant the 3500 setup work?
i can give it a 58x reference signal...
