  • 3400 head to 3.1 swap-just a few qs-if u dun it

    sorry the title is spelled poorly but i didnt have enough space. i have a few questions for anyone whos done the top end swap on one of these with the 3400 top end.

    i intend (if the good lord be willing) to put my 90 luminas 3.1 in an early 90's s10 4x4 for my gf & down the road id like to make it a hell of a lot peppier for her/me (ill be driving it a lot) as a birthday or xmas present (they both are around the same time, which means i have PLENTY of time to get what i need/find the info i need). im hoping to get a set of ported 2k+ 3400 intake manny's from wot-tech as well as heads to match (not from wot-tech due to not having the money) & i have some q's.

    will any year 3400 heads work with these?

    are the heads on the 2k+ 3100's just as good/will they bolt up to this intake?

    what all parts do i actually need to purchase (besides very small stuff like misc wiring/hoses)

    and what else would be needed to use a 3100/3400 cam?

    what will my compression ratio be?

    where can i find some headers that wont break the bank for something like this?

    i intend to do a minor port on the heads that i get for gasket matching as well as just to clean up any crappy casting/the exhaust ports, & i also intend to get/use the tb off of a 90's vette/maro-but i intend to adapt that to the intake myself as my own little different/fun project. i also intend on getting a WOT-tech chip burned for this if possible, with the egr delete so i dont have to mess with that garbage (no emissions testing around here)

    i just want to have everything purchased so i can just take her truck, pull the top end off/put the new one on & go.

    you want to put a fwd engine in a rwd truck? why.... just get a 3.1 or 3.4 out of a firebird or camaro or something. either way you will have to convert to dis
