  • Windage Tray?

I read a couple of threads in the archives about windage trays, but I'm still unclear on a couple of things.

First, let me say that I have a 3.4 Chevy crate engine in a sports/kit car. The 3.4 is the engine sold by Chevy as a replacement for the original 2.8 in S10's.

Here's where my confusion sets in... in the posts there are references to a Gen 3 and Gen 2 engine. Which one is the 3.4 crate?

I use the car for autocross and spirited back road driving and would like to add a windage tray to keep the oil in the bottom. I picked up a stock pan and was going to create my own but if there is a simple way of doing it using stock GM parts that would be cool, too.

So, please tell me whether the tray from the 3.4 DOHC engine is a fit.

    Thanks.
If I had all the money that I've spent on race cars back... I'd spend it on race cars!

well, frist, the 3.4 crate is actually a GenI motor. iron heads and all.

i couldn't tell you for sure but i would think the how-to for making the 3400 windage tray fit a genII motor should be about the same. hopefully someone else chimes in.

A DOHC Tray will bolt on with the accompanying studs.

If you cannot find a DOHC tray then you can modify a Gen III Tray to fit.
