turbo'ed small blocks are nasty, just the hassle of the swap is the point of not swappin the motor, in a 4th gen f body originally equipped with a six cylinder, you might have to cut the firewall and inner weel wells to fit that set up

just go with a 3.4 3400 hybrid like they were saying, or go with a 3400 all together...better design, can be done...saves weight over a V8...drink a v8 to keep ur diet straight...drink a V6 so you dont need to diet.

and it is possible to turbo anything...probable is the next thing

          Hi there!

There are tons of V8 4g F-body cars out there, and they're old enough now that they're not expensive. If your really want a V8 F-car, it would be cheaper to just trade yours in on a V8 one. A V6 would be a good fuel economy story at trade-in time.

the EASYEST swap for a camaro v6 to v8 would be the FWD 5.3l engine, will mount to your trans

you WILL need a new ecu, new mounts, and need to find a way to mount the starter. (factory was on the FWD trans..)

you will have alot less trouble swapping the topend/whole engine to a 3500 and putting a turbo on it..
altho that being obd 1.5..... still might need to change ecu's :X

doesnt a fwd motor have funky morot mounts, wouldnt it be hard to put a fwd motor in a rwd car?

                  Hi there!

The FWD engine in a RWD F-body doesn't make any sense -- too many things are different. The starter is on the wrong side, the engine mounts are wrong, etc.

The V6/60 transmission will not hold up to the power of a V8. Building it to do so, considering that just getting a V8 transmission would be cheaper, doesn't make any sense. So, the transmission isn't a factor in how to do the swap.

This isn't wrenching on a FWD V6 car where we're limited by space, mounts, available transaxles, etc. The F-body came with a V8 from the factory -- swapping in a V8 amounts to removing all the V6-specific stuff and installing the V8 parts. This is straightforward but not trivial -- GM is known to change a ton of things (i.e. different battery tray, or coolant bottle, stuff like that) that sound simple but add up. Still, there is no reason to be constrain yourself to trying to make the V6 stuff work if the goal is to put in a V8.

The easiest way to do this is to find a V8 donor car(s) and get its K-member, engine, transmission, PCM and harness, transmission crossmember, driveshaft, etc. With the right donor this isn't hard, but it is not the cheapest way to get a V8 Camaro -- unless said V8 isn't anywhere close to stock. Unless we're talking about a seriously built V8, it's cheaper to just swap for a V8 car and start from there (cheaper only because swapping the car off gets you a stock engine, and you'd be pulling it out for the built engine and possibly wasting one big item you traded to get). Heck, even with a serious engine it may still be cheaper to start out by trading it off.

if you get the newer model 4l60 trans, they are made the same...just with a diff bell housing, you can get all the upgrades for them that you can for the v8 because they are the same trans. same internals...which means you can upgrade to the wide band, the vette servo, all that. and the 5 pinion planetary from the 4l65 trans. also the 700r4 is the same as well...
