if you use the 260 it should be fine.. the 272 would be close but i bet it would run ok.

    what length did you use?

i'd get the 272 , but you will need longer pushrods. you will make much more use of the better breathing top end.

dave, it ended up being the size you told me. i cant remember, ill look it up if you dont remember. and why do you need longer pushrods? i mean i dont get that part. itll be a wile befor i put it together im just trying to get everything ready and searched up now. scott said he has a chip for the 272, so that would be good. everythings gettin ported so i would like to do it right the 1st time. not have to do it again for the cam you know.

        thanx guys!

It would be nice if someone with a H272 and a H260 would post up the base circle measurements...

any cammed setup will need to be tuned, i wouldn't buy a generic chip and just hope for the best.

these measurements for pushrods are from Syn who had a 3.1/3400 hybrid with the 272.

            6.342
            6.344
            6.363
            6.334
            6.343

INtake-they were all the same basically off by a few thousands

Just an FYI. I now have nearly 500 miles on my GenII with Crane H272 and stock length pushrods, and I am having no problems. I have the Comp Cams 1.52:1 roller rockers, LS6 valve springs, and GM stock rocker arm studs, and everything is working fine. I did have issues when trying to use ARP rocker arm studs, since they are a little shorter than stock. When we turned the engine over by hand, we were getting full coil bind, and pistons were just touching valves. Thanks again Ben for diagnosing this remotely. Hope this helps.

I ordered my Crane H260. But it'll be a while before my engine is done.

so many choices..... 260 sounds good, and seems like it would be better all around, and the 272 sounds better for the top end.... someone with a 260 chime in and leme know how it is.

iirc Collin ran his famous 13.99 run with a Comp 260 small port 3100 heads, large port top end and headers.

the Crane H260 is a god all around cam. the Comp 260 is ok too but IMO the crane is better...

I will know better once I get the car tuned and adjusted. Right now it idles at about 1100 rpm, which is a little too high to really hear the lope. I want to get it bumped down some to get that nice lopey idle to shine! Once I get a chance to meet up with Ben to have that done, I'll let you know.
