  • 3400/3500 hybrid

so i have a problem, today i finished polishing my combustion chambers and my freind did a valve job for me. we ligned up the 3400 head gasket over the 3500 head and it doesnt clear the chambers on one head... its CLOSE though. is any1 else having this problem? im probly gonna go pickup some 3500 head gaskets now and run those on the 3400. does any1 see a problem with doing that?

no you should run the 3400 head gasket... unless you have a 3100 one the headgasket clears the chamber just fine.

You run the headgasket for your block, and this is why 3500 parts cant get used on a 3100, the bore is too small.

I'm running GM 3400 headgaskets on my hybrid... it ran for 15k with no problems and is now getting heavy valvtrain treatment.

last year i ran 3.4 camaro headgaskets on my 3500.. they cleared the chambers just fine.

you can use 3500 headgaskets if you want, they are just a tad larger and will work just fine on a 3400 block.

I ran 3.1 Camaro head gaskets on my 3.1 Cavalier to bump the compression up a little bit!
Do 3.4 Camaro head gaskets on a 3400 do the same thing??
What about 3.4 gaskets on a 3500? Whats the CR then??

well its just one chamber it doesnt clear all the way on one head, i think it would lead to a blown headgasket

You can't run .040 gaskets on a gen 3 because it doesn't leave enoug room between the head and piston. They stick out.
