  • Upgraded valve spring question

So my heads are currently getting resurfaced and a valve job.
I decided Im going to replace my springs since now is a good time since everything is disassembled.
I am a little short on cash right now and dont have a larger cam yet, so while I was browsing Milzys site earlier I saw he was selling LS1 springs and LS6 springs.
Would the LS1 be an upgrade over the stock 3100 springs?
If so I am going to go with them and replace with LS6 springs when I do a cam.
    Thanks

Why not just do LS6's? I havent looked on milzy's site, but i bet they're WAY overpriced, you can pick up a v8 set of LS6's on ebay for anywhere from 50-80 bucks. that what i did, and i sold the 4 i had left over for 20 bucks....

mms wants like $90 for ls6 springs? When ben gets a batch he sells them at a good price!

Don't do ls6 springs on a stock cam.

Well the problem is, Im getting valve float, its tuned to run well over the what 5300 or so valve float kicks in? So I just want something a little upgraded, so LS1 could but a option, they are 40 from milzy i think.

I used to sell them cheap but not anymore. Those ebay springs aren't always a good deal. I have bought some that had rust on them Quality control isn't free.

LS1 springs won't do you much good.

            What are my options then?
Live with the float? Because Im not really seeing that as an option.
I was told not to use LS6 with a stock cam.
LS1 has to be an upgrade over stock. Right?
Any one got specs on them?

Whoever told you not to run Ls6 springs on a stock cam probably couldn't tell you what problem that would create. Its been done without problems.

btw, how are you determining valve float at 5300 rpm?

Valve float happens much past 5300RPM on a stock cam and valvetrain.
