How do you dyno an auto anyways? Seems like if you punched it, it's going to downshift no matter what you do.SpudFiles

Not if you have a tuner, you can tell it to shift into third at whatever speed you want and then make all the downshift numbers crazy so it wont downshift... put them really low for the MPH setting, and then it will never come out of third.

thats the sissy way of doing it... and when your not driving the car on the dyno I would rather work with commanded shift tables, rather than pulling a plug and having them deal with getting it up into third gear.

I'm guessing they just adjusted fuel tables, but not sure how they accounted for when boost comes in with no MAF reading. I guess it could be done with speed density mode, but you need a 2 bar MAP I thought to do that. Maybe they have it when it's WOT it squirts X amount of fuel for 10psi and that's it? That wouldn't be optimal with a centrifugal S/C as they build boost proportional to RPM. On a down shift it might be good but from a dig it would be rich until the RPMs came up...
I'm not an expert on tuning by any means but that's my best guess... If someone can look at the bin we could understand more. It's no perfect tune but defiantly safer than before. Before had no added fuel, not even a FMU. And since the computer does not read the O2 sensor when WOT, they only way it knows how much fuel for WOT is based off of the learned tables from cruise. So if you are boosting more psi at WOT than when at cruise, when you go into WOT you will lean out severely... I'm amazed the first time anyone floors it with these kits they don't burn a piston....
BTW, if you want more bling from your engine, that small coolant return line that goes from the thermostat housing neck to the coolant bottle, take some scotch brite pad to it. It's aluminum and will shine up really good. I did that last night before I painted it, and almost left it shiny.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Hahaha you posted exact same time I did.
I was right, too rich on take off. I bet it's ok when it down shifts though right? As the RPMs should jump up and the boost will go up...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

I dont know how that thing can run with no MAF... mine bucks and stalls and surges like crazy when I'm doing a VE tune.

That's why his trans is shifting super hard and all over the place probably too. Now that he has a bandage tune he will be getting bad mileage but at least the motor is safe....
Time for an appropriate MAF and then a perfect tune for power and driveabilty. Is there any other MAF's from other cars that would be the same pipe diameter but have a higher frequency bandwidth?sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

You just make it so it's not lean in WOT with boost. But when out of boost it's rich. Hell a FMU would be better as far as driveability than how it's setup right now but at least it hopefully won't blow up. It's not really tuned, just band-aided.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Down shifts are insanely great, very powerful and very fast. It pulls like a Muther on down shifts, but from take off its wack.
I guess MAF will be needed, I wanted to try it with out it. Be the first or sumtin.
But I guess I need one. Oh well. its still faster than a stock 93 5.0 mustang
I killed one on a roll on the freeway last night. I mean killed.
