what cam is the largest i can goto on a 94camaro with the obd 1.5 without making the comp go insane? i was looking at the powermax 2030 as a "safe" bet, but could i use the H-272-2 or is that just asking for ecu issues?

The 2030 is crappy. It has a whorible IC and LSA to help make lots of vacuum but it lacks performance.

The 260 Cam will make great daily driver power and will also deliver good vacuum with is 112* LSA. The wide LSA makes for a broad power band as well which makes it very good on the street. The 272 will work but would be a waste without tuning.

      I agree, QFT.

Without tuning 260 is about the biggest you can go (and you won't take full atvantage w/o a tune). I have been considered an "unoficial salesman", but Delta took good care of me along with the many people I have sent there. They will grind you a copy of the 260 for far less than $100 (regrind) and new cams start at just over $100.

I have heard many good things about them. I am thinking about running a 260 myself but if I would need tuning to get "full bebefits" then what about the 252 (I believe that's the next size down).

          Sorry for the semi-steal.

Unfortunately, I never got to install the cam before I sold it due to the fact I am getting a 3.4 to replace my 3.1, and needed a cash boost (also MegaSquirt is going in the new motor so I can go 272 or more, woot). I have heard no bad things about their product, though.

And no, they don't need your old cam first, but you will pay a core charge until you do give yours back. I live far enough from them, so they waived my core sice it would cost more than that to ship it back to them. I paid $100 including new lifters, stickers and a t-shirt. They only charge $40 for lifters and would suggest getting new ones since the old ones will be out anyways.

Can you get GM part numbers? GM sells the same 260 cam kit as Crane. If you can get a discount you can get it for less than $100. It is only $114 here in Canada.

Has anyone used the ARI phase 2 cam? Would it be a good choice for a stock 2.8 gen1 FI that hauls the family around every day?

See my other post. No stock engine should ever see a performance cam. Ever.

why not? as long as you get valve geometry correct and use the right valve springs, and don't over rev the motor, a stock motor will do just fine.
