  • Roller cam

I was wondering if I could put a roller cam from a 94 up 3100 in my 91 3.1 I would like to get 180-200 hp out of it I have a 3100 topend and that will get ported and a valve job for the heads I had a 96 lumina with a 3100 and it seemed like it seemed like it had a lot better throttle response and more HP so I hope if I rebulid my 3.1 with a 3100 top end It should have some descent gains

you can do the hybrid using the stock flat tappet cam with the 3100 heads and upper/lower intake manifold.

As far as using the roller cam, I don't think so. There is not any provisions in the block for the anti-rotation bars.

I have not tried it myself, but I can't think of a way to get the roller cam to work. A lot of people have gotten some really good responce with the normal flat tappet style and doing the hybrid.

Nope, the oiling is all wrong, no mounting bosses for the anti-rotation bars etc...

check out the Crane H260-2 and H272-2 flat tappet cams, they make great power in hybrids..

http://www.schneidercams.com/ there are roller cams out there, custom or not. you might have to grind the LIM to clear the lifters. you can also talk to a few cam maunfacturers about the oiling issues. can't say for sure which side, but i believe you can use buck 3800 roller lifters for one bank, and SBC rollers for the other. turboz24 has done this.

You didn't specify the car/year your 3.1 is from, but does your car already have DIS. If not how are you going about the ignition (distributor/DIS)?
