iv'e ordered the crank for a '90 corsica 3.1 to put in my 2.8 block, and i was wondering if there was any reason the pistons from a comaro or s10 wouldn't work. according to the specs in the motors> push rod performance section said they have less of a dish.
    thanks.

as long as they are 3.1 pistons they should work.If I'm wrong I'm sure someone willm correct me. Might be a problem with valve to piston clearance.

the gen aluminum head pistons are about a 26cc dish. an s10 or camaro 3.1l uses gen 1 ironheads wich use a 12cc dish. you would end up with about 11.2:1compression. its not that high, still alright with premium fuel and would deffinitly require some tuning.

              awesome, thanks a lot,
but when entering the "piston dome volume" on the CR calculator, shouldn't a dished piston be entered as "-26cc" (for example)?

I thought the same thing when I started using it. Since the pistons on the 60* are dished from the factory it makes sense, though.

                      ha,

anywayz, if put those pistons in and a head gasket w/ 3.620 bore and .039 thickness (stell core laminate preflatened copper wire combustion seal) it would bring me up to about 12:2 CR (according to the calculator) which i belive is pretty high. anyone ever done this?

You might have problems with the stock starter having that much compression.

I know boostedrs has tried to start his 13.x:1 alcohol moter and the stock starter couldn't do it.

I am assuming that is a typo (12:2) and you mean 12:1 or 12.2:1

                            yes, i ment 12.2:1.
so the stock internals in the motor and tranny wont have any problem with that?
