  • Well that's the end of that...

Deceided to tear down my 3400...its not good... the cam was stuck in the block I had to pry it out, 2 lobes had ruts dug into them, the timng chain damper was worn pretty well...Both of these things have happened to me before....Excpet for prying the cam out that was new.. Crankshaft is excellent but the bearins as usuall looking like they have 200,000 miles on them....All my pushrods were bent....Good news is that the all cylinders were firing perfect. Oil pump is still good, Cylinder heads check out. Exhaust manifolds still there....The block needs to be hot tanked and new cam bearing and needs to be re honed. And the compression HAS to come down. I cant run these wild cams and expect them to last. and he compression is killing the bearings...For the sake of longevity I cant build these engines like this without getting matched parts made of the proper materieals...Ultimately I need a new engine, I need to run the bottom end stock to make it last. A stock 3500 with head work would be the best thing. My 3400 has had it. No sense in buying another engine or rebuilding this one stock when the lobster already has a more power engine that kinda stuck the hell in there... I mean even with head work I just don't think it'll run that strong and in that same way...... I got some more things to do... I'll re rant later....

well i've deceided this engine is pretty much done without alot of prep work.... If I deceid to go and swap out engines i'll just obtain a 3500 and run with that. As of now I got a few parts that I'd like to sell. Starting with the cylinder heads. They have LS6 valve springs, LS1 spring seats, and 2.8/3.1 GEN2 valve seals. These heads were remanufactured and have about 30,000 miles on them. Ported lower intake manifold, oil pump with pickup, 3.4 GEN1 Pistons mounted to connecting rods, oil pan with level sensor, rocker covers, rocker arms, Lifters are still good, the block can be sold, but will need new cam bearings installed. I also have a buch of new parts, mostly gaskets. 2 Felpro 3400 head gaskets 9071 PT, 1 GEN3 Fel Pro conversion set CS 9957, 1 set of Felpro cylinder head bolts ES72892, and 1 timing chain damper from Sealed Power 222-336CT. Being that these are new not used I'll take whatever rock auto charges for them, take 10% off plus shipping. Havent decided what to charge for the other stuff...FYI I also have an engine oil cooler for a GEN2. I will repost in the for sale section soon.
