  • balancing/weighing pistons

how close should the piston weight be
    for a performance rebuilt (+-6500rpm)?

found that there is as much as 5 grams(european)differance.

I know builders go 2 grams or better. I would try for that. It is just a matter of a file and some patience

      okay,

the first set of 4 that i checked were within 2 grams...but those other 2 pistons are from another set of 4(cosworth 4 banger) and had about a 5 gram differance in comparisson with the first four.

my balancing guy does everything to 0.3 grams or better. it may be overkill, but i deffinitly have a smooth running motor. this guy does the stuff for the alcohol dragster i work on.

Yea like I said it just takes time. You can zero them all if you want. But then you must be very confident in the accuracy of your scale.

I personally think it's overkill for an engine
that only revs to about 6500rpm.max.

            just my 2cts.
